excuse the layout - tried and tried - gave up

To the right is how I am trying to make Szonja stop crying, without putting weight on my foot.

The pumpking looking thing is from my aunt Mary Lou . Szonja loves it!

She also loves Hop on pop!

Szonja is too long to fit into one camera frame, apparently. But you can put the pieces together, right?

31 before 32

this is my list of 31 things to do before I'm 32. Some of them seem a little bland, even to me, or I've done them lots of time before and seem boring but Szonja clearly has an influence on what I'll be up to in the next year.

some videos

Szonja one day old

Good thing we thought she was cute then!
Little did we know how much cuter she would get.

A few more daddy pictures

Apu

Since I broke my foot, Csaba has had to step up and do pretty much everything around here. Everything I would usually be doing, plus taking care of me: bringing me water, helping me hobble to the bathroom, cooking for me, listening to me complain... I have been especially sad about not being able to take Szonja out for walks. I think the stimulation is good for, she enjoys the closeness and the movement is good for her brain and for making her calm. Usually we spend a couple hours everyday walking. It makes me sad to think about how she was already starting to get excited when she saw me putting on the wrap carrier. So, even though he doesn't have much practice with it, Csaba also agreed to take Szonja out. When he came back it seemed like he enjoyed it just as much as she must have. I felt proud hearing about all the strange looks he got when he was spinning around under the trees and talking to her about what they saw. It's amazing how people stare at a baby in a carrier, even more at a baby being worn by a father. Crazy. What a good dad.
Szonja is a daddy's girl lately - I'm so lucky that he's willing to spend so much time with her. He can always get her to smile, and if she's overtired there's no where else she wants to be but in his arms.

At a rainy birthday party. Szonja loved the art that was displayed at Fogasház rom kért.
Attempt at a family photo - anyone want to help us out? Would be nice to have a picture of the three of us.

snow suit

I think this hand-me-down snow suit from Tyler is a little big, but she sure is cute in it! This is what Szonja was wearing that terrible Tuesday when I broke my foot...and then couldn't be found by any taxi in the city for two hours...and was approached by a wino who wanted to comfort Szonja, who was SCREAMING...while I couldn't bounce her or walk her or anything due to previously mentioned broken bone. The happy end to the story is that even after all that when we finally got home Szonja's feet and fingers were still plenty warm. Yay.

When you can't leave the house...

Szonja and I have been sitting on the bed during the days, staring at each other, being bored, enjoying each other most of the time though. I try to make the most of it, giving her massages, doing baby yoga, singing. Who wants to skype? Please?
Szonja loves the cat, who sings Brahm's lullaby. She whines after it runs down. She's sleeping on the blanket my grandma made for her, wearing her new flower power shirt.
Chris Sanchez was in town visiting from Germany.
